Created in 2006, AMCO Saft India Limited is a leading manufacturer of Nickel-Cadmium batteries for power backup systems operating across the Indian sub-continent. This joint-venture was created when Saft, the world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced technology batteries for industry, joined hands with AMCO Power Systems Ltd., the Nickel-Cadmium battery business of Amalgamations Group – a reputed business house in India.

AMCO Saft offers custom made, high tech battery systems for the region’s key power utilities, oil and gas, industrial markets and major OEM’S. AMCO Saft batteries are specially designed for applications where maximum operating reliability is a key factor.

Key facts :

Saft’s operation in India is known as Amco Saft India Limited (ASIL). This joint venture was created in 2006 when Saft, a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced technology batteries, acquired a 51 percent share in Amco Power Systems, part of the Amalgamations Group which is a leading company in Southern India. Since its creation, ASIL has achieved 13 percent growth, year on year.

Saft is deploying its world class manufacturing processes and procedures at the new Bangalore factory to further increase the reliability and efficiency of the batteries it supplies to the Indian market.

Amco Saft (ASIL) is well established as a supplier of advanced nickel-based batteries for India’s railway projects. This includes prestigious metro rail applications both for the Delhi Metro and Bangalore’s Namma Metro of Bangalore. Other important rail customers are the Diesel Locomotive works  (DLW) Varanasi, Chittaranjan Locomotive works (CLW), Integral Coach factory (ICF) Chennai and RDSO Lucknow.

ASIL has set up an exclusive manufacturing factory for aviation batteries.  These batteries have passed 150 hours of continuous flight trials and ASIL is proud to report that it has received clearance for the bulk manufacturing and supply of batteries to customers in India’s aviation sector.

ASIL has also been certified and qualified by the Indian Navy as an approved supplier for all its 18 dockyards.

ASIL’s important customers also include NTPC, BHEL, BEML, EIL, EMERSON, ABB, L&T, SIEMENS, HITACHI-HIREL, AMAR RAJA, GAIL and many others. Representatives of over 70 customers are expected at the inauguration event.

An Indian manufacturing plant providing high technology batteries

Inaugurated in January 2013, our manufacturing plant manufactures high technology batteries for the Indian and surrounding markets. The 6,000 sq m state-of-the-art manufacturing plant features has a production capacity of 60 million Ah.
